Cathy Vigneron

I received by B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in May 1994. Since the fall of 1994, I have been enrolled in the M.A.Sc. program at UBC, supported by an NSERC scholarship. When I complete my degree in the fall of 1996, I plan to work for MacDonald Dettwiler in Richmond, BC., in the area of matched field processing.

Research Interests

My research involves studying:

  1. radiometric effects of Doppler centroid errors,
  2. Doppler centroid estimation techniques, and
  3. algorithms for maximizing image quality.
for ScanSAR data with various numbers of bursts per aperture. I work with MacDonald Dettwiler on this project, and the results are expected to be applied on the European ENVISAT satellite.

Terry Ngo and I have built a quick-look SAR processor on the lab's Sparcstations. It uses the SPECAN algorithm, and produces a 15-look, 60m resolution image from ERS data.

Personal Interests

I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and biking.
