I graduated from He Fei University of Technology, and got my Masters degree in Computer Theory and Applications in 1994. Since then, I have worked for five years as a software engineer in Shanghai Electric Corporation, mainly engaged in program design for microprocessor/DSP based products. I enrolled in the Masters program of the ECE department at UBC in September 2000.

I am presently working on Polarimetric SAR Data Compression using the discrete wavelet transform for my Masters thesis. For this project, I'll use the adaptive wavelet packet transform as the main analysis tool, and embedded block coding as the coding scheme. First I'll use MATLAB to simulate and analyze the scheme, then use C/C++ to test it in an application.
