Academic Stuff

I am a Master's student in the Radar Remote Sensing Group of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia. My area of Research is "Noise reduction techniques in SAR Interferometry" with application to topographic maps generation. A brief draft of my research is as follows:

1. Review of the processing chain for Interferogram generation.

2. Theoretical frame-work to evaluate new and existing techniques.

3. Design of new techniques.

4. Evaluation in Applications to D.E.M. generation.

I graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia) Electronic Engineering Department in April 1991, where my degree thesis was about Digital Image processing of fingerprint images for identification purposes. After that, I joined the Universidad Nacional de Colombia where I studied physics and my thesis work was on geophysics. My work experience includes Satellite Image Processing for Prosis Ltd. Colombia and Seismic Signal Processing for Schlumberger-GeoQuest in South America.

Personal Stuff

I enjoy outdoor nature activities like camping and hiking. I am planning to climb the Chimborazo snow peak in Ecuador. The sports I practice are soccer and basketball. My favourite writers are Garcia-Marquez, Isabel Allende, Cortazar, Kafka, Kundera and Neruda. Now I am particularly interested in Canadian poetry.
