Mandala in Old Gompa of Pangboche Te Lim.

On the return trip, 6 of us took a slightly different route, turning uphill as we entered the village of Pangboche. Our first treat was a beautiful old gompa at the upper end of the village (Le Tim).

There were many historic paintings and wood-carvings inside, including this "wheel-of-life" mandala. The gompa is said to 450 years old, the oldest sherpa gompa. It held one of Khumbu's famous yeti scalps, until it was stolen in 1991.
